MY STORY
Originally from New Zealand, I am a devoted disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. Over the last 36 years I’ve lived in ten countries—twenty-six of those years in a country steeped in Buddhist traditions—while wrestling with bouts of depression and anxiety. Much of this feels like karmic reckoning, a rebalancing of actions rooted in the delusions of past waring generations.
A decade ago, as a novice meditator, I suddenly experienced an overwhelming wave of unconditional love pouring through my third eye. It emanated from Sri Anandamayi Ma, the revered Indian saint of our lineage. In that instant every cell felt cherished; all notions of unworthiness fell away, revealing a simple, blazing truth: love is the only reality, and everything else—fear, worry, social illusion—is Maya (Delusion).
Tears streamed as I stood exposed yet wholly accepted before a highly enlightened being. For ten days afterwards I lived in a coccon of love, even noticing a indentation where a tilak rests (mark worn on the forehead, usually made of sandalwood paste) —an outward reminder of inward awakening. Concentration sharpened; my life, however, seemed to collapse. Yet amid the dark night of the soul, Anandamayi Ma and Yogananda became steadfast polestars.

Today my practice is simple: meditate, act kindly, own my circumstances, and surrender all outcomes to the Masters. I strive to inhabit the present moment, trusting that while this human walk can feel lonely, we are never truly alone. Easy it has been not, but worth it. The Gurus have given me so much; the next step is to serve others with gratitude and humility.
